Copyright notice

Warforge Veterans is made by fans, for fans. This page sets out who owns what, what the game uses and how to reach us about it.

A non-commercial fan project

Warforge Veterans is an independent, non-commercial fan project by Ziga Flis. It is free to play. Nothing is sold and there are no subscriptions or advertising. The game links to voluntary donations (Buy me a coffee), which only help with hosting costs.

Blizzard’s rights

World of Warcraft, Warcraft, Blizzard Entertainment and the related names, characters, places, artwork, models, music, sounds and other game assets are trademarks or copyrights of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. They remain Blizzard’s property. Their use here is fan use; this notice does not grant anyone any right to them.

No affiliation or endorsement

This project is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. or any of its affiliates. References to their games describe where the inspiration and the original world come from; they do not imply any official relationship.

How game data is used

The game is a browser client that runs on data from the original classic game client. Game data served to players comes from a legally owned copy of the original client, held by the project owner. The game server streams the individual files the client needs while you play.

That data is not offered for download. The project provides no game installer, no game archives and no bulk copy of game files, and none are kept in its source code. The optional Windows client contains only the project’s own program; it uses game data in the same way.

This guide website hosts no game files. The zone illustrations and class icons shown on this site are displayed from the game server and remain Blizzard’s artwork.

Our own work

The game rules, the guide’s text and the Warforge Veterans name and logo are the project’s own. The engine and website code are open source under the MIT or Apache 2.0 licenses; the open-source notices list every third-party component and its license. Those licenses cover our code only, never Blizzard’s assets.
